Why We Give

We encourage you to find greater contentment and simplicity in your life as you put God first in your giving and living and to experience the joy that comes from knowing our gifts honor God and change lives. Our challenge as believers is to find ways to grow deeper in our faith. One way to do this is to offer our financial blessings to God through our tithes and offerings. Through these gifts, we invest in God’s vision and purpose and create an opportunity for God to work through us. Our gifts to God each week are an act of worship; and our offerings are vitally necessary to change lives, transform communities, and renew mainline churches.
Why is giving important?
The Bible has much to say about wisdom and finances, with 2,300 verses that tell us to be generous and good stewards of our resources. Jesus taught generosity and sacrifice. He demanded that his followers serve not wealth but God, and in the parable of the talents he taught that God will hold us each accountable for what we do with all our earthly possessions.
What is expected of me?
The Bible teaches us to give a tithe, or the first 10 percent of what we earn, to God and the church’s work. For some, giving one tenth is a very difficult goal. For others, it is the starting point, and their giving far exceeds 10 percent. The important thing is that you start somewhere, that your giving be in proportion to your income, that your giving reflects an appropriate offering to God given your means, and that your offerings express both your desire to serve the Lord and your investment in God’s work. Begin by determining what percentage of your income you are giving to God. If you are not yet tithing, consider taking a step toward tithing this year. For example, if you now give 3 percent of your income, consider increasing your gift to 4 percent, and add 1 percent each year until you reach the tithing goal. Our prayer is that everyone will grow in his or her faith through giving financially to the ministries of the church and experience the joy and blessings that come from financial generosity.
Everything we have belongs to God.
“A tithe [tenth] of everything from the land, whether grain from the soil or fruit from the trees, belongs to the LORD; it is holy to the LORD.” —Leviticus 27:30 (NIV)

Designated Giving

“Each of you must give as you have made up your mind,
not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”
2 Corinthians 9:7.
Memorial – All of God’s people work together to provide monetary support for the General Budget of our church. We do this through regular, estimated giving and tithing. However there are also times in which persons are compelled to make over-and-above monetary gifts in honor/memory of a loved one, for a special occasion or as a way of showing gratitude to God. Below are the existing fund accounts that are available to give toward.  Indicate in the comments section to whom the memorial is in honor.
Vacation Bible School – Used annually for expenses which might include curriculum; snacks; activities; craft supplies; videos; music CDs; and/or other resources.
School Supplies –Used to purchase school supplies and or backpacks for students in the Pearl River community.
Building Fund – Used to pay down the existing mortgage of our buildings and to hold for future new building or campus projects.
Christmas Mission – These funds are mainly collected on Christmas Eve each year and then distributed to ministries selected by the Church Council. In giving to this fund throughout the year, monies are held and then added to the Christmas Eve offering in December.  2022 – We Invite you, your family and friends to gather with us Christmas Eve as we celebrate the birth our Savior.  The family focused service will begin at 5:00 p.m. complete with traditional carols, scripture readings, candles, and the singing of “Silent Night”.  2022 offering will support Our Church PRMC, and/or Community Christian Concern, if you have a preference, please indicate in the Comments box on the Online Giving page for Donations (click on Online Giving).  Otherwise, your generous donation will be split evenly between the three.  From our heart to yours, we thank you in advance for your generous donation.
Celebrate Recovery – All money collected goes right back into Celebrate Recovery to help reach out to others, provide free bibles, and help with our start up. Celebrate Recovery runs solely off the kind donations made by you.
Pastor’s Discretionary – These funds are used at the pastor’s discretion to fulfill special requests that spring up from time to time and are not presently represented in the General Budget or existing Dedicated Funds.
If there is a particular ministry area in which you would like to make a designated gift that is not reflected above, please speak to the pastor or one of the Finance Committee members. When making a designated gift, please indicate on your check/envelope the name of fund. If you have more questions about designated giving you can call the church office at 985-863-7452.
